Imagine a talk show host mixed with an agricultural economist with a dose of comedian. That’s Damian Mason.
Damian delivers crisp, current, Ag commentary intersected with humor. His positive, hilarious, straight talk resonates with Ag audiences from across the spectrum.
In addition to speaking at Ag meetings, Damian produces and hosts his own – “The Business of Agriculture” podcast and the “Do Business Better” podcast. He hosts the “Cutting the Curve” podcast with XtremeAG.farm, an informational platform for future-focused farmers. And his newly released show, “The Granary”. Also found on XtremeAG.farm.
Damian is the author of multiple books. His two most recent are: “Do Business Better” and “Food Fear.” He’s also extremely active on social media, Fox News, NewsMax and Cheddar News spreading information and dispelling misinformation about the world’s most important industry: Agriculture.
Damian’s clients cover every space on the table – from corn to cranberries, cotton to cattle, canned food to canola. He’s spoken in all 50 U.S. states, 5 Canadian provinces, and 7 foreign countries.
Damian was raised on a dairy farm, owns and manages 300 acres of farm and timber land, and has a degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. He also studied comedy writing and improvisation at The Second City–Chicago. When Damian isn’t on an airplane or stage, he lives with his wife, Lori, and their dogs, Jack and Rosa. They split time between their Indiana farm and a winter home in Arizona.

Dr Mark Redmond - Chief Executive Officer, RDAR | Results Driven Agriculture Research Mark Redmond is Chief Executive Officer of RDAR, Alberta's producer-led agricultural research and innovation organization. With extensive leadership experience in agriculture, research, and public policy, Mark works closely with producers, researchers, industry partners, and governments to ensure research investments address real-world challenges and opportunities facing Alberta agriculture. Under his leadership, RDAR has focused on connecting research with practical outcomes, helping accelerate innovation, adoption, and impact on farms across the province.
D'Arcy Hilgartner - Producer Leader and Chair, RDAR | Results Driven Agriculture Research
D'Arcy Hilgartner is a fourth-generation Alberta farmer and Chair of RDAR. Farming near Camrose, Alberta, D'Arcy brings a producer's perspective to agricultural innovation, research adoption, and industry leadership. A long-time advocate for producer-driven decision-making, D'Arcy is passionate about ensuring research investments deliver practical value on the farm. Through his work with RDAR and Alberta's agricultural community, he helps bridge the gap between research, innovation, and the realities of modern farming.

Session Description:
Agricultural innovation doesn’t end with a research breakthrough—it succeeds when producers can put it to work on their farms. In this keynote conversation, Mark Redmond, CEO of RDAR, and producer leader D’Arcy Hilgartner explore the “final mile” between research investment and on-farm impact. Together, they will discuss how producer priorities shape RDAR’s research agenda, how promising discoveries are translated into practical solutions, and what it takes to move innovation from the lab and trial plot to real-world adoption. Through the lens of Alberta agriculture, they will examine the opportunities and challenges of research, extension, knowledge transfer, and technology adoption, and what producers, researchers, and industry partners can do to ensure innovation delivers meaningful results where it matters most—on the farm.
Gitane De Silva - Closing Keynote
Gitane De Silva - Expert on International Trade, Canada–US Relations, Energy Issues, and Geopolitics
Gitane De Silva is a recognized public policy leader with executive experience at provincial, national, and international levels. Over the course of her 25-year career, she worked extensively on Canada–US relations, energy and environment issues, intergovernmental relations, and complex negotiations. As a sought-after keynote speaker and strategist, De Silva draws on her wealth of experience to deliver actionable insights and strategic clarity on leadership, geopolitics, and the energy sector, grounded in real-world expertise.
From 2020-2023, De Silva was the CEO of Canada Energy Regulator, where she ensured the safe and efficient delivery of energy to Canada and the world, while also protecting the environment, advancing Reconciliation, and providing relevant and timely energy information and analysis. Prior to this, she was Alberta’s Deputy Minister for International and Intergovernmental Relations. De Silva directly served four Premiers and advocated for Alberta’s interests domestically and internationally.
A seasoned diplomat specializing in Canada–US relations, De Silva was Alberta’s Senior Representative in Washington, DC under the first Trump Administration and Canada’s Consul General in Chicago, among other roles. She promoted trade, investment, and energy infrastructure, and was also involved in the negotiations of several trade and environmental agreements, including the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), the Canada Free Trade Agreement, and the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.
Today, De Silva is the Founder and Principal of GDStrategic, the inaugural Executive Director of the Peter Lougheed School of Politics and Democracy, a Special Advisor at Blue Rock Law, a Board Member with the Public Policy Forum, and a member the Advisory Council for the New North America Initiative at the University of Calgary. She holds a BA in International Relations from the University of British Columbia and her ICD.D designation.

Ebony Verbonac | KPMG Canada
Ebony is a Tax Partner, and Office Managing Partner at KPMG’s Lethbridge office. She has more than 15 years of experience serving Not-for-Profit organizations and private company clients in southern Alberta. Ebony is also the Agribusiness Sector Lead Partner for KPMG offices in the western region of Canada. She is highly engaged in the Lethbridge business community and in Alberta’s agricultural sector. She is a regular author for Alberta Beef magazine and has been published in The Western Producer. Ebony will provide support for any tax or other specialty tax related issues.
In addition to having a Chartered Professional Accountant designation, Ebony is a Chartered Business Valuator and focuses a portion of her time working with businesses on benchmarking and business valuations.

Roger Chevraux - Alberta Canola Producers Commission
Roger Chevraux is a fourth-generation farmer near Killam, Alberta, serving his third term on the Alberta Canola board. He represents Alberta Canola’s Region 11, chairs the Government & Industry Affairs Committee, and serves on the Grower Engagement & Extension Committee. Roger also serves as a director on the boards of the Canadian Grains Council, the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA), and the Grain Growers of Canada, where he chairs the Research Committee. Outside of agriculture, Roger enjoys spending time at the lake, skiing, golfing, travelling, flying, and spending time with his two granddaughters.
